Victory!

Phones4U have now scrapped their offensive anti-scouting ad, after a massive amount of compliants from Scout Leaders and a cease and desist letter from the Scout Association, and a facebook group with nearly 1,800 members.

Not quite the response they were looking for, I guess – since they have almost certainly ensured that the 100,000 adult members and the 400,000 youth members of the Scout Association will have nothing to do with their company (unless they redeem themselves through a donation/sponsorship…).

The ASA is also going to be assessing the advert as they have received “a number of complaints” about it – one of them from me. Why they sent me a letter through the post rather than an email though, I dont know…

What we want most is a real apology, rather than the half-apology that Phones4U have constantly repeated, in varying forms, to all compliants they have received.
