My dedication. Let me show you it.
Today I have mostly been:
-
Preparing equipment for camp
-
Shovelling dirt
-
Burning thorny brush
Both of the last two activities were undertaken around the back of my Scout Hut, which we are preparing to concrete (finally – it was something that was planned to do several times even back when I was a Scout myself!). A few weeks ago, a thorny tree was cut right back from a corner, and this afternoon my job was to burn it.
Fire!
But this stuff was thorny as hell. So even though I massively enjoying the burning of it (what Scout or Scout leader wouldn’t?!) it did rather mark me… My arms are covered in scratches and tiny burns, and my legs are as well!
But I wear these scars* with pride. Because they demontsrate my dedication to the Scouting cause! And I shall display them tomorrow at the District Sports Day!
* Yes, this is exaggeration
