A centenary of Guiding

5 September 2009

guiding-centenaryScouting celebrated its centenary two years ago, and now it is Guiding’s turn. Originally set up because Victorian morals would not allow boys and girls to be mixed in Scouting – something which has now been corrected in the Scout Association.

Guiding has now been around for a century, and was instrumental in the development of women’s rights between 1909 – when women didn’t even have the vote – through to today.

Hopefully Guiding’s centenary celebrations will give them the same boost as Scouting had during 2007.
